Design, construction and production
Your expertise includes the assembly, commissioning, maintenance and optimization of automated equipment. This could be engine management systems, production machines or even production robots. You will plan and monitor work processes, assemble mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic components and install software.
Developing and designing new mechatronic systems and production systems alongside engineers can also be your field of work - if you want to.
How does the programme work?
The school-based course for mechatronic assistants is three years long and includes preparation for the technical college entrance qualification. At the beginning of the 3rd year of training, you will attend a 7-week internship in a company of your choice, where you can apply the knowledge you have acquired in real-life situations and gain initial experience.
You also have the opportunity to complete further internships or subject-related projects to further optimize your starting position for your professional career. With the state final examinations in the main areas of training and general subjects, you will acquire a recognized vocational qualification and the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences.

Ideally, you have the following skills for mechatronics:
- An interest in electronics, mechanics and IT
- Manual dexterity and diligence
- Technical and mathematical understanding
- Logical and spatial thinking
